Jenkins Version History

2 active, 15 end-of-life. 17 versions tracked.

Jenkins publishes weekly releases for early adopters and LTS (Long-Term Support) releases every 12 weeks. The LTS line is selected from a recent weekly release that's been stable, then receives backported fixes for about a year.

Recommendation

For production CI/CD, use Jenkins LTS (currently 2.462.x or later). LTS releases are more thoroughly tested and receive critical backports for 12 months.

Plugin compatibility is the biggest upgrade risk. Always check your critical plugins against the new Jenkins version before upgrading.

Jenkins Configuration as Code (JCasC) is the recommended way to manage Jenkins configuration. Stop configuring through the UI.
